RTE Psychology are thrilled to be able to offer therapy dog support to schools and individual students.
Kiwi is a fully trained and insured therapy dog, available to visit schools alongside her owner and trainer, Dr Sophie Roberts, educational psychologist.
Kiwi can provide a range of support to schools, working alongside the psychologist to. This support includes, but is not limited to:
- Providing emotional support for children or young people who may be anxious to meet with the psychologist
- Accompanying a child or young person who has been struggling to attend school in their journey to school
- Providing a playful respite opportunity for children or young people who may be feeling stressed or anxious about upcoming exams
- Supporting a child or young person who has experienced bereavement.
Prior to any work with Kiwi, a full risk assessment will be completed, and a Memorandum of Understanding is provided to the school.
Copies of insurance documents and therapy dog training completion certificates can also be provided upon request.
